I will dominate 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer will face the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be shown live on the streaming platform.

Briton Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for next month's boxing match.

Former twice world boxing king Anthony Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge mismatch - at Miami's arena on December 19th.

Boxer's Mentality

"I will injure his face and damage his physique. My goal is to show my superiority," the British boxer, 35, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to genuinely try to injure him. That's what I want to do."

Respectful Interaction

In spite of these statements, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically recognized for his dramatics - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.

Paul rather criticized former Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after the Cameroonian rejected a match opportunity.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, at the same time, criticized British rival Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is better than Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Serious Fighter

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he stated.

Jake Paul's History

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has primarily fought MMA fighters or faded names since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer continues to be one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, regularly earning substantial earnings.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a KO victory in the fourth or fifth round and stated he would derail the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"It's going to be myself against Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul met for the traditional stare-down, with their physical disparity on show, it drove home just how surprising this complete situation is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is actually proceeding.
